Curriculum Integration Ideas for Math

1. Have students make charts and graphs of the population and religions in each country.

2. Compare countries. Operation World has lots of statistics that can be manipulated and studied in math class (see bibliography).

3. Have the students keep a list of the countries and their population. You can get this from the Country Reports web site also linked from the student's country list. Then, have them put in order which is lowest/highest and compare to the US.

4. Have students locate on the globe the latitude for where they live. Using the globe, have them find other countries, either north or south, with the same latitude. Have students research another country's weather, using encyclopedias. Students write a paper describing similarities and differences between their own weather and the other country's weather from the same latitude.

5. Create an international bank. Get the exchange rates from the CIA World Factbook, Lonely Planet's Destinations, or Country Reports. Then assign a student to be the banker each day/week and other students "bring in money" to be exchanged and the banker must calculate the correct amount.
